As a national sporting federation, we are member of international sporting federations and organisations.
FAI
FAI stands for Fédération Aéronautique Internationale of World Air Sports Federation. The FAI is a non-governmental and non-profit making international organisation with the basic aim of furthering aeronautical and astronautical activities worldwide, ratifying world and continental records and coordinating the organisation of international competitions. It is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
IGC
The IGC is the FAI Gliding Commission. It is the body within the FAI which is responsible for all international aspects of air sports involving gliders (not including hang gliders and paragliders, which belong to the FAI Hang Gliding and Paragliding Commission) and motor gliders.
EAS
EAS or Europe Air Sports was established in 1988 as a non-profit organisation, and since 1994 affiliated to the global Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), the objective is the long-term promotion and protection of sports and recreational aviation in Europe.
In particular their mission is to represent the interests of pilots and light aircraft owners / operators in civil aviation regulatory developments.
EGU
The EGU or European Gliding Union is the association of European Gliding Federations or Gliding Sections of National Aero Clubs. Its aim is to represent the interests of all glider pilots in Europe with respect to regulatory affairs.
EGU monitors the developments in European aviation regulation and when necessary, takes action to prevent unfavourable or even dangerous rules affection our sport from being set up.
